Iain Colquhoun – onto pastures new

Wednesday, November 28th, 2018

We are sad to announce that Iain Colquhoun, Director of Golf at Dundonald Links, left us earlier this month. Iain is leaving us to take on an exciting new role as General Manager for Blue Group Machinery (Scotland), a superb opportunity richly deserved.

Big Iain’s (as he is known to his colleagues) golfing career began when he won a scholarship to study at Midland College, Texas, where he was to become part of the No.1 ranked team in the States (2000/01 & 2001/02).

At an early age, he represented Scotland at amateur level whilst playing off a handicap of +4, and, since turning Professional, has won several PGA events and competed for his European Tour card. It would be remiss not to remind Iain, and inform the membership, of myself and Ian Ferguson’s dramatic victory over Donald Macdonald and Big Iain at Spey Valley two years ago…oh the bragging rights!

Back to Iain, he joined Dundonald Links in 2005, and it was here that he gained his PGA status, graduating in 2010, before being appointed Head Assistant and then Golf Professional. In 2013 I was delighted to promote Iain to Head Professional at Loch Lomond Golf Club, where he gained an invaluable three years’ experience prior to his return to Dundonald Links in January 2016, to take up the senior role of Director of Golf.

He leaves us after 13 years combined at both Clubs, a loss to the team, but he leaves us with all of our best wishes for the future.

Big Man we wish you well.
